Biografi

Mie Kusk Søndergaard is a PhD fellow at the Institute for Public Health – General Practice, University of Southern Denmark, where she is currently studying healthcare seeking for and diagnostic work around unspecific gynecological symptoms. Søndergaard holds a BSc and MSc in social anthropology from Aarhus University, and she has specialized in medical anthropology. She works with a variety of ethnographic methods, and has done research on healthcare innovation, physical health among psychiatric patients, diagnostic delay for endometriosis, and healthcare seeking for menstrual pain. Her research interests are gender within biomedicine, patient-doctor interactions, medical semiotics as well as embodiment within welfare states.
