Biography

Did you know that every day, the approximately 5 liters of blood in your body travel many times through 100,000 kilometer of blood vessels that branch and cross, linking the cells of our organs and body parts? What we do is ultimately about reducing the burden of cardiovascular disease – the number one killer in the Western world – and keeping the blood flowing.

What we do
Our research deals with the heart – the key organ in the circulatory system – as well as the lungs and blood vessels including arteries, veins, and capillaries. We study clinical and molecular cardiovascular medicine, vascular biology, cardiovascular genomics, epidemiology, clinical physiology and emergency medicine.

Who we are
Affiliated with Aarhus University Hospital, we align research with clinical needs to generate new treatments and prevention strategies. We are more than 100 active researchers spanning medical doctors, nurses, epidemiologists, basic scientists and more.
