The department's research focuses on six areas: applied microeconomics, comparative/development/international economics, econometrics, experimental economics, macroeconomics, and microeconomic theory.
Faculty members' research often spans multiple areas, and collaborative projects are common. External funding for our research comes from the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
We nurture a thriving research community among graduate students and faculty members. Starting in their second year in our PhD program, students participate in this community through a variety of opportunities year-round.
