Biografi
Nikos Hatzakis' main research interest is to obtain a fundamental understanding of the parameters underlying regulation of protein function and how aberrations in their function results in disease states. We work with multiple protein systems that are essential for drug synthesis and metabolism (P450 Oxidoreductase), gene editing (CRISPR-CAS12a), industrial applications (lipases proteases) but also related to drug delivery and cell entry. Harnessing the biomolecular insights of single molecule experiments allows us to unmask the fundamental mechanisms that drive these vital processes. This in turn paves the way for the design and delivery of novel pharmaceutics or the design of novel biocatalysts with tailor made functionalities.
