Emil Laust Kristoffersen is an Assistant Professor at the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO) at Aarhus University, Denmark. He did his Ph.D. studies on DNA interacting proteins and enzyme activity detection in the laboratory of Associate Professor Birgitta R. Knudsen at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Aarhus University and his Postdoctoral studies on catalytic RNA structures and the origin of life with Philipp Holliger at the Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, United Kingdom. Emil has also been working together with Associate Professor Victoria Birkedal at iNANO and Professor Vilhelm Bohr and the NIA in Baltimore, the United States of America, investigating DNA structures and DNA repair enzymes. Emil is currently setting up his own research group with a focus on functional DNA and RNA motifs used by viruses and subviral systems aiming to treat disease and develop new tools for nucleic acid biotechnology.
