The brain – more than just a control centre for chemical signals?
Billions and billions of tiny neurons have joined together over millions of years to form what we now call the human brain. Unsurprisingly, this organ harbours some of the most thoroughly explored and yet least known areas of the body. The research includes how the brain sends and receives signals to and from the rest of the body to how tiny chemical changes in the brain can lead to neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson’s disease or mental disorders such as schizophrenia.
