Biografi

Professor Johanna Olweus is a physician-scientist and head of the Department of Cancer Immunology at Oslo University Hospital, as well as Professor at the University of Oslo. Trained in transplantation immunology, she has built her career on understanding and harnessing donor-derived immune responses to fight cancer. Her research focuses on T-cell immunotherapy, especially the discovery and engineering of T-cell receptors (TCRs) that can recognise cancer-specific antigens while sparing healthy tissue. Olweus’s group pioneered a transplant-inspired method to identify therapeutic TCRs, providing proof that donor immune systems hold untapped potential for treating solid tumours. She leads major international and national initiatives in precision immunotherapy and aims to translate fundamental immunological insights into new TCR-based cancer therapies that improve patient outcomes.
