Biografi
Jens Meldgaard Bruun, MD, is Clinical Professor at Aarhus University and Principal Investigator at Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus. His research explores the interplay between nutrition, obesity, inflammation, and lipid metabolism. He focuses particularly on how adipose tissue biology – including inflammation and macrophage activity – affects weight loss, insulin sensitivity, metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), and metabolic health in people with obesity or type 2 diabetes. He has conducted studies on dietary and lifestyle interventions, from carbohydrate counting in diabetes care to long-term follow-up of children with obesity. Jens M. Bruun has also contributed to research on body composition, BMI development in children, and the link between slightly elevated HbA1c and breast cancer risk. He advocates respectful weight communication and recognition of obesity as a complex metabolic and societal challenge.
